Case study 1

Monitoring Inventory Plot Support for Carbon Project Developer

Location: Central Appalachians

Scope of Work:

• Field establishment of monitoring plots for ongoing forest condition evaluation
• Data collection aligned with program metrics for carbon sequestration and ecological health
• Coordination with carbon project developer's regional managers and adherence to field quality assurance protocols



Outcome:
Heritage Habitat & Forestry, LLC contributed to the baseline data gathering efforts for a carbon project developer across several project sites. The accurate and consistent delivery of plot data helped the developer advance its regional strategy for scaling carbon markets to small landowners. Feedback from program managers highlighted both the professionalism and the technical accuracy of our fieldwork.

Case study 2

Reforestation Project Assistance

Location: Ohio

Scope of Work:

• Management and audit of a multi-stage planting project on a previously planted but underperforming site—an abandoned agricultural field with a dense herbaceous layer that compromised seedling survival
• Overseeing site preparation operations across multiple parcels to improve site conditions for replanting
• Updated acreage mapping and geospatial files to support operational planning and documentation
• Performed quality assurance checks on both the seedlings and the planting operations
• Performed in-field audits to assess planting depth, snugness, upright orientation, and spacing

Outcome:
Heritage Habitat & Forestry, LLC supported a carbon project developer in the reforestation of hundreds of unforested land in Ohio, including the audit of thousands of individual seedlings, screening for quality indicators such as mold, decay, undersized stems, and insufficient height.

Lead Verifier for Afforestation Project

Scope of Work

• Contracted to provide lead verifier services for a challenging, multi-faceted afforestation project located on unforested acreage in multiple states
• Furthermore, our team performed in-field audits throughout several sites. These audits focused on verifying planting plans and PDD compliance with real-world project installation and execution.
• Coordinated with multiple parties to ensure compliance with registry requirements, transparency, and quality measures were met

With over a decade of experience in geospatial analysis and machine learning, he models carbon sequestration and offers validation services for carbon developers. Authoring over 500 forest management plans across 20 states, Anthony merges data science with fieldwork to enhance ecological health and client returns.

Regional Consultant, Forest Technician

Emma Clark, SAF Candidate Certified Forest Technician, has over three years of experience advising 200+ Appalachian landowners on sustainable management. A Hocking College Wildlife Resources graduate, she combines regional ecology with silvicultural management to balance habitats and wildlife. Emma develops forest management plans, oversees timber sales, and manages key phases of IFM carbon credit projects. Using advanced ESRI ArcGIS mapping, she optimizes ecological health and client goals through tailored support.

Rachel Brock, A Society of American Foresters (SAF) Candidate Certifed Forester (CCF), is our Regional Consultant for the Eastern Kentucky, West Virginia and Southern Ohio regions.

Mrs. Brock specializes in applying an interdisciplinary approach to sustainable land management, seamlessly integrating forest ecology, watershed dynamics, wildlife habitat, and silviculture to meet complex landowner objectives.
